Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday spoke with Vice President Mike Pence to discuss the state's response to the coronavirus, while the governor in a series of radio interviews this morning said it is "inevitable" a positive case will come to New York.

Pence is coordinating the federal government's effort in responding to the spread of the virus, which has shaken the financial markets.

Cuomo in the interviews said it was significant Pence was placed in charge of the response, calling it a "governmental" undertaking to pland and coordinate the logistics of purchasing supplies, equipment and planning quarantines.

At the same time, Cuomo sought to allay concerns over the effect the virus would have on New York while also saying the state was taking the issue as seriously as possible.

"If you take the worst case scenarios, they are problematic and they are disruptive and being prepared is not as easy as it sounds," he said.

Cuomo on Wednesday said he is seeking $40 million from the state Legislature to purchase equipment and better prepare for any cases.
