The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators on Friday will endorse New York City Councilman Donovan Richards for Queens borough president.

“The Council of School Administrators is proud to endorse Councilmember Donovan Richards for Queens Borough President,” said CSA President Mark Cannizzaro. “Throughout his time in the City Council, he has been a dedicated ally to our city’s school leaders, investing necessary resources into schools within his district and standing by our union whenever we needed his support. Councilmember Richards believes deeply in our public schools, and we know he will continue to advocatefor working families throughout the borough.”

Richards is running in a crowded March 24 special election for the post, which was left empty after Melinda Katz was elected district attorney for the borough.

“I’m proud to receive the support of the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators in my campaign for Queens Borough President," Richards said in a statement. "A quality education for our children is so important, and it is essential that those overseeing that process have the crucial resources they need to do their jobs effectively."
