ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City forward Duncan McGuire is among the players selected Wednesday for the United States’ 25-man training camp roster ahead of its final pre-Olympic friendly, against Japan on June 11 at Kansas City, Kansas.

The U.S. qualified for its first men’s Olympic soccer tournament since 2008 and will open against host France on July 24 and play New Zealand three days later, both at Marseille, then finish the first round on July 30 against Guinea at Saint-Étienne.

Men’s Olympic soccer is limited to players under 23, with each team allowed three players over the age limit on its 18-man roster. Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2001, are U-23 age-eligible for the 2024 Olympics. McGuire is 23.

McGuire was called up to the under-23 national team in October in preparation for friendly matches against Mexico and Japan and notched his first international goal Oct. 18 as a substitute in a 4-1 victory against Japan. In March, he was invited to join the U.S. Men's Olympics Soccer Team for training camp in Spain and France and for friendlies against France and Guinea. McGuire's first call-up to the senior national team came for January training in Orlando in preparation for a friendly against Slovenia. He was put into the Jan. 20 game as a substitute but did not score in the 0-1 loss.

For the Lions' Major League Soccer game against the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night, McGuire is listed as out with a right shoulder injury on the team's player status report.

Nineteen of the 25 players picked by coach Marko Mitrovic have appeared for the senior national team.

Ten players are from Major League Soccer.

Among the omissions were Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady, Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna and Dallas winger Bernard Kamungo.
