Andrew Cuomo is ahead in the polls and he now says he's ahead in campaign cash.

Cuomo's campaign for mayor said the former governor raised $2.4 million during the last fundraising period from mid-March to mid-May, claiming Cuomo has raised enough cash, with potential public matching dollars, to hit the race's spending cap of more than $8 million.

Cuomo out-raised his rivals during the last fundraising period, according to numbers NY1 received on Friday evening.

Candidates have until the end of Friday to file their reports.

The city’s Campaign Finance Board will determine who gets more matching money next week.

Cuomo’s campaign has one slight disadvantage.

It was docked more than $622,000 in matching funds earlier this month because of alleged coordination with a Super PAC supporting his candidacy.

Campaigns and independent expenditure committees are not allowed to coordinate.

The controversy was over whether the two coordinated on a television ad that aired at the beginning of the month, which allegedly used content from Cuomo’s website.

It’s a practice known as red-boxing, where candidates discreetly tell independent expenditure committees how they should push their candidacies by publishing information on their websites.

It's unclear if Cuomo could face additional penalties by the city's Campaign Finance Board, which would mean he may not be able to spend as much cash in the race for mayor as his opponents.

Cuomo is one of just three candidates who have said they have raised enough campaign cash to hit the spending limit.

Brad Lander said he hit the limit this week.

"I am the second campaign to hit the max spending threshold,” the city comptroller said at a press conference this week. “Over 8,000 contributors over 15,000 contributions from people in all five boroughs and all walks of life."

Zohran Mamdani hit the limit in March. The Queens assemblyman was urging his supporters to donate to Adrienne Adams this week on social media ahead of the campaign finance deadline.

Adams, the speaker of the City Council, joined the race late.

She said this week her campaign had reached the threshold to receive matching funds.

On Friday evening, her campaign said she raised $396,000 this filing period, and they now had nearly $300,000 in qualified matching claims that could be eligible for the city's generous eight to one match.
