The United Farm Workers have two rallies planned on Monday to demand the release of farm workers detained by ICE earlier this month in Orleans County.

Members of the United Farm Workers say 14 individuals were arrested by ICE after their transport bus was stopped on its way to work on May 2.

ICE says the individuals from Mexico and Guatemala were charged with violating the Immigration and Nationality Act. Removal proceedings are pending.

UFW has a rally in Brooklyn at 5:30 p.m. Monday and then another at 6:30 p.m. in the town of Carlton in Orleans County.

Members of the United Farm Workers originally rallied outside a federal ICE detention facility in Batavia, Genesee County, the day the arrests took place.
