U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat will deliver the Democratic Party’s Spanish-language response to President Donald Trump’s upcoming joint address to Congress, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Thursday.

Espaillat represents New York's 13th Congressional District, which includes upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016. He is currently the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

“@RepEspaillat embodies the very essence of the American dream, and he’s fought to keep that same promise alive for millions of American families,” Schumer wrote of the congressman on X.

Espaillat will follow new Michigan U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who will lead the party’s address to Trump.

Similar to a State of the Union address, but for new presidents just coming into office, Trump will deliver his first joint address to Congress in his second term on Tuesday, March 4.
