President-elect Donald Trump has promised what he calls “mass deportations” of immigrants lacking permanent legal status once he returns to office, an expansion of one of his first campaign’s signature policy issues.
But Murad Awawdeh, president and CEO of the New York Immigration Coalition, told Capital Tonight that there are online resources for migrants who are concerned about their status, including at nyic.org/resources.
Additionally, Awawdeh spoke with host Susan Arbetter about the organization’s top state legislative priorities for the session beginning in January. At the top of that list is the New York For All Act, which would create limits to collaboration between local government and immigration enforcement.
