Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday said she is slated to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week.

"I've been honored to accept the invitation to appear Monday night," Hochul told reporters during a question-and-answer session in Manhattan.

“I understand there's [a] lineup with, President Biden will be there, and Hillary Clinton, and I’m really, really honored that they selected me to be on that night,” she added.

Hochul is set to deliver her address as the state and city are still dealing with the ongoing migrant crisis.

"We, at one time, were receiving 4,000 migrants a week here in New York City. It plateaued for a long time, at about 1,500. We're now hitting 800 and below. So the numbers are — this is just since May —trending in the right direction, which is very positive," she said, when asked if the topic could negatively impact Democrats.

Hochul said she had not announced her speaking engagement earlier because her team was “in negotiations and conversation.”

“We were just figuring out the scheduling and issues like that, so I was not in a position to officially announce that I would be speaking. So today, I can,” she said.

On Tuesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams also confirmed his attendance at the convention, saying he plans to engage with fellow Democrats. Adams, who is a superdelegate, is not scheduled to speak at the convention.

He is expected to attend the event on Wednesday and Thursday, coinciding with speeches by Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Harris, who secured the Democratic nomination for president earlier this month via a virtual roll call vote, will formally accept her nomination at the convention.

New York is sending 307 delegates to the event, including Hochul and state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, who are also superdelegates.

The convention is set to take place from Monday, Aug. 19 to Thursday, Aug. 22.
