Republican nominee for governor Lee Zeldin and Gov. Kathy Hochul will face off against each other in Spectrum News’ general election debate Tuesday.

The debate will be held Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Pace University. The one-hour debate will air on Spectrum News’ channels in New York state, and will be moderated by Errol Louis and Susan Arbetter.

It is the only scheduled gubernatorial debate.

Zeldin has continuously slammed Hochul for not agreeing to more than one debate, and did so again Sunday in his statement, in which he agreed to Tuesday’s debate.

“Kathy Hochul doesn’t have any answers for her failed leadership, which is why she doesn’t want to take any questions,” he wrote. “She's trying to get away with one debate for one hour at the end of October a month after absentee ballots started going out.”

“When we take the stage on Tuesday night, the first question should be why Kathy Hochul thinks that the bare minimum, rock-bottom standard of a single cable debate for one hour after so many New Yorkers have already cast their vote is what she thinks the people of New York deserve,” he continued.

In a statement, Jerrel Harvey, a spokesperson for Hochul, wrote that the governor “looks forward highlighting her strong record of delivering results and exposing Lee Zeldin’s dangerous lies.”

"After months of hiding, we’re glad that Congressman Zeldin has finally agreed to participate in Tuesday's debate,” Harvey wrote.
