Starting today, professional sports leagues will now be able to begin their training camps across New York.

Teams will be required to have health and safety guidelines in place to protect both players and staff.

"We want people to be able to watch sports... It's something to do, it's a return to normalcy," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at his press briefing Sunday.

Cuomo held his daily press briefing at Jones beach, one of the state beaches that reopened for Memorial Weekend.

This coming week, there will be a wave of phased reopenings across the state.

Tomorrow, campgrounds and RV parks will also now be allowed to reopen.

Veterinarian practices statewide will be able to reopen on Tuesday.

Cuomo also announced that the Mid-Hudson Region is still on track to enter Phase 1 on Tuesday. Contact tracers are being trained over the weekend, to help the area met the final metric.

Long Island is also still on track to start reopening on Wednesday if the data rate continues its decline in Suffolk and Nassau counties.

109 people passed away from the coronavirus in New York over the past 24 hours. This is up slightly from 84 the day before.
