Rochester Democratic state Sen. Jeremy Cooney this week is set to report raising $353,000 over the last six months as lower campaign contribution limits took effect.

His campaign will report having $296,500 in cash on hand and has transferred more than $18,000 into the account.

“I am humbled by the significant support our campaign has received from across the state. Our supporters are clearly invested in our positive vision for New York’s future and the work my team and I do both in Albany and beyond."

New York lowered campaign contribution limits for state offices as a system of publicly funded elections with public matching dollars for donations coming online this election cycle.

Cooney in a statement said he expects to meet the requirements for the program.

"Additionally, as an early adopter of public financing of campaigns, I am proud to see this strong filing begin our process for qualification in the new statewide program," he said.

Cooney was first elected to the chamber in 2020.
