Democratic state Sen. James Skoufis' re-election campaign will report later on Monday raising more than $325,000 in the last six months.

The fundraising since January will bring his cash-on-hand total to more than $1 million, his campaign said.

Skoufis, a Hudson Valley lawmaker, was first elected to the state Senate in 2018, flipping what had been a Republican-held district. Post redistricting last year, the seat now comprises most of Orange County.

The area is considered a closely watched battleground for both parties.

Skoufis won re-election in 2022 as the district voted for a Republican gubernatorial candidate by a 13 percentage-point margin. In 2020, former President Donald Trump won the district as Skoufis was re-elected by a 14 percentage-point margin.

Democrats hold a supermajority in the state Senate.

“My team and I work hard every single day to deliver for our Orange County constituents, and folks recognize that," Skoufis said. "I am deeply grateful for the strong and consistent support that is reflected in this latest campaign filing as we best prepare for the 2024 election."
