The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday rescinded the special Emmy award given to former Gov. Andrew Cuomo last year, pointing to the sexual harassment allegations leveled against the governor that preceded his resignation.

The academy in a statement said, "in light of the New York Attorney General’s report, and Andrew Cuomo’s subsequent resignation as Governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy Award."

Cuomo also will not be referenced in having received the award and "will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward.”

Cuomo resigned as governor on Monday at midnight following the release of Attorney General Letitia James' report that found he sexually harassed 11 women. He continues to face multiple investigations into myriad controversies, including allegations his administration under-counted deaths in nursing homes during the pandemic.

The Emmy was awarded to the then-governor last year in recognition of his news conferences held during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic that had led to him becoming a national figure.
