A New York judge on Wednesday ruled President Donald Trump's son Eric can be deposed by Attorney General Letitia James's office as part of the ongoing investigation into the Trump Organization.

The deposition must be conducted by October 7, James's office said, less than a month before Election Day in the United States.

James, a Democrat, revealed in August her office was conducting an investigation into Trump's business dealings in real estate and had subpoenaed Trump's son Eric.

The investigation stems from testimony by former longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who told Congress the president had inflated the values of his assets to obtain better terms for loans.

The attorney general's office is investigating several Trump properties, including the Seven Springs Estate in Westchester, 40 Wall Street in lower Manhattan, the Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago and Trump National Golf Club in Los Anegels.

James's office over the summer began the process of compelling testimony in the investigation and having documents turned over to their office.
