Think of it as an appeal based on science.

Democratic House candidate Nancy Goroff's campaign today will release a TV ad that touts her resume as a chemistry professor at SUNY Stony Brook, tying that experience to how she would approach the job in Congress.

Its a message her campaign hopes will resonate amid a coronavirus pandemic that has seen the public flock to members of the scientific community for answers and reassurance during the crisis.

"For 23 years I taught at Stony Brook University. I led the effort to expand healthcare coverage to more people," Goroff said in the ad.

"Now I’m running for Congress to use science to lead us out of this crisis. I’ll fight for faster free COVID testing results, so we can stay safe and get back to business in Suffolk County."

Goroff is running in Long Island's first congressional district facing Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin.
