Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday is set to endorse Democrat Dana Balter in New York's 24th Congressional District race.

Balter is running for a second time in the Cental New York House district to unseat Republican incumbent John Katko.

“Dana Balter knows what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to make ends meet,” Hochul said. “At a time when the Trump administration continues to fail Central and Western New York, Dana Balter will be a strong partner in Congress who will fight hard for our state’s economic recovery and can be counted on by New Yorkers. I know what it’s like firsthand to turn a competitive seat from Red to Blue, and I’m looking forward to using my experience and support to help elect Democratic women like Dana Balter who will stand up for New Yorkers in swing districts across the state.”

Hochul is making a series of endorsements this election season on behalf of Democratic women running on the ticket. She plans to aid with fundraising and campaigning as well as the endorsements.

“I’m honored to have the support of Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul. As we grapple with these unprecedented public health and economic crises, she has been at the forefront of the response effort and is helping lead our state’s economic recovery,” Balter said.

“Lieutenant Governor Hochul has been a lifelong advocate for working families. In Congress, she voted time and again to defend the Affordable Care Act from Republican attacks. She knows what it’s like to win tough fights and I’m so grateful to have her on our team.”
