New York's coronavirus infection rate stood at 1 percent out of 48,709 tests performed over the last 24 hours, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office on Tuesday announced.

Twenty-seven people have died due to the virus, Cuomo said, an increase from 10 people the previous day.

The tests found 597 positive cases, a roughly 1 percent total that has been in line with the last several days of testing in New York.

Cuomo has not ruled out some form of a quarantine or isolation guidance for people who are entering New York from states where there have been spikes like Texas or Florida.
