Two Democratic Buffalo mayoral candidates are touting their plans for the Queen City.
Sen. Sean Ryan says he wants to bring small businesses back to downtown Buffalo. His plan centers around "cutting the red tape" and modernizing City Hall to better serve mom and pop stores.
"As mayor, I will create a barrier busting team," Ryan said. "Each emerging business will have a person assigned to them. They'll have a name, address and a cell phone number and they will report to me. They'll serve as a navigator for the small businesses to get them through the City Hall process."
Acting Buffalo Mayor Christopher Scanlon is launching his "Keep Buffalo Beautiful" campaign on Friday. It's a new citywide initiative that involves crews removing graffiti, trash and debris, patching potholes, repairing street signs and cutting tall grass around Buffalo.
"When people are talking about Elmwood Avenue, they are also referencing Grant Street, Jefferson Avenue, Seneca Street," Scanlon said. "We want people all across the city to say, 'let's go over there and do some shopping. Let's go over there and grab something to eat because it is full of attractive clean safe environment for everyone to visit.' "
Primary Day is Tuesday, June 24. Early voting starts on June 14.
