U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is appointing Michael DiGiacomo to be the next U.S. Attorney General for the Western District of New York. He was officially sworn in by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo on Monday.
He will serve in the role for 120 days or until a presidential nominee has been confirmed by the senate.
DiGiacomo has been an assistant U.S. Attorney since 2002 and before joining the office, he was an attorney in private practice in Buffalo. He began in the Narcotics and Violent Crimes Division and later served as the chief of the White Collar and General Crimes Division.
"Having served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in this office for the past 23 years, I am both honored and humbled to be chosen to serve as United States Attorney," he said.
Additionally, DiGiacomo serves as the computer hacking and intellectual property coordinator for the Western District of New York.
