Republicans in the New York State Legislature are in an unusual position. While they retain minority status in the state, they have gained powerful allies on the federal level. And as Gov. Kathy Hochul noted in her State of the State Address, the state depends on the federal government for funding critical state programs like health care and infrastructure.
