Former President Barack Obama will be paying a visit to West Point this week.

The U.S. Military Academy says the 44th president of the United States will be receiving the 2024 Sylvanus Thayer Award. This is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

The award, according to the West Point Association of Graduates, is given annually to a non-West Point graduate "whose outstanding character, accomplishments, and stature in the civilian community draw wholesome comparison to the qualities for which West Point strives, in keeping with its motto: 'Duty, Honor, Country.' "

The Corps of Cadets will also conduct a parade in Obama's honor on the Plain before the award presentation.
