On Thursday, Gov. Kathy Hochul outlined her call for the federal government to “take executive action and direct significant financial assistance” to New York to address the influx of migrants to the Empire State. Frankie Miranda, the president and CEO of the Hispanic Federation, told Capital Tonight that expedited action and communication from the White House is needed.

Hochul sent a letter to President Joe Biden that calls for faster work authorization for migrants, financial assistance for New York City and state, federal sites across the city and state to be turned into temporary housing for migrants and reimbursement for National Guard deployments. Miranda argues New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Hochul agree on a lot of points, but the “White House needs to act.”
