Congressman Nick Langworthy is continuing his push for stronger protections at the Canadian border.

After a meeting at the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol sector headquarters in Buffalo, Langworthy highlighted some of the issues he’s seen.

It comes after CBP reported a 700% increase in illegal crossings along the northern New York, Vermont and New Hampshire borders last year.

Langworthy has shown his support for "Secure the Border Act" to try and reverse issues both in Buffalo and down south.

"The recruitment and retention of our officers has to be addressed and we have to give incentive to do that to make sure our best and brightest are able to do that with all the funding necessary," he said.

The "Secure the Border Act" passed the House of Representatives in May.
