One of the Republicans running for New York governor in 2022 sees a much easier glidepath to the state’s highest office with Kathy Hochul as the incumbent.

Former Westchester County Executive and 2014 gubernatorial nominee Rob Astorino told Capital Tonight that not only doesn’t Hochul have her predecessor’s enormous campaign war chest, she will also have to deal with the stain of being a part of the Cuomo administration.

"For her to go and say over the last few weeks, ‘Yeah, I don’t know who this Andrew Cuomo you’re talking about is; I haven’t spent any time in Albany; don’t know the guy, even though I ran with him twice’, is a little implausible,"he said.

Hochul has promised to bring 'dramatic change' to the culture of Albany which has been described as 'toxic' during the administration of Governor Andew Cuomo.
