TAMPA, Fla. — Many anxious seniors across the Tampa Bay area are still waiting for their third round of stimulus checks.

What You Need To Know

  • Many seniors are still awaiting their 3rd round of stimulus checks

  • Delay is because IRS is waiting on payment files from Social Security Administration

  • IRS has not given a timeline of when people, who are beneficiaries of government programs, will receive their checks

  • Most recent payment may come as a paper check or EIP card

According to a letter sent by leaders in the House Ways and Means Committee last week, the hiccup is because the IRS was waiting on necessary payment files from the Social Security Administration.

“We understand that these beneficiaries are waiting because the Social Security Administration (SSA) has not sent the necessary payment files to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS),” the letter stated.

If you are 65 or older and receive Social Security benefits or are a U.S. veteran, you will likely receive the standard $1,400 check. It could differ for seniors with high-income levels from investments or pensions.

The IRS has not given a timeline of when people, who are beneficiaries of government programs, will receive their checks. The first two batches of checks, according to the IRS, went to those who filed 2019 or 2020 tac returns or used the non-filers tool on IRS.gov.

The last round of payments will likely be for federal beneficiaries who did not file a recent tax return. This most recent payment may come as a paper check or EIP card.
