A day after Ohio Sen. JD Vance secured his spot as former President Donald Trump’s running mate, New York Rep. Nicole Malliotakis lauded him as a “great pick.”

The Republican congresswoman, whose district includes Staten Island and part of Brooklyn, is currently attending the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, where Vance was officially selected by delegates to be the party’s nominee for vice president.

“Well as you know, President Trump has been making inroads with Hispanics, with African Americans, with the labor movement, and of course, with young people, and JD Vance is somebody who can certainly reach out to the young people,” Malliotakis said during an appearance on “Mornings On 1.” “He is young, he is dynamic, he’s a great communicator, and he’s from the swing state of Ohio.”

“It’s going to add to the ticket,” she continued. “As somebody who spent some time with JD Vance recently, I can tell you that I think he’s going to add a lot.”

Trump named Vance — a fierce critic-turned-convert and staunch ally — as his running mate Monday, ending months of speculation as to which Republican loyalist would join his ticket as he looks to win back the White House from President Joe Biden.

After Trump announced his decision, Biden called Vance a “clone of Trump.” Malliotakis batted the criticism away Tuesday, saying Trump and Vance merely support the same agenda.

Prior to winning his Senate race in 2022, Vance was a Marine and venture capitalist who wrote a bestselling memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.”

Vance has pitched himself as an economic nationalist in favor of producing more domestically and decreasing reliance on foreign trade, vehemently anti-immigrant, and an opponent of U.S. funding for Ukraine’s war against Russian invaders.
