Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled a $233 billion spending plan for the state, including funding for asylum seekers without raising taxes.

Hochul's proposal sets in motion the budget negotiations with the state legislature.

State leaders will spend the next two months trying to hammer out a final budget before the start of the next fiscal year on April 1.

State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.

“I’m always happy when our priorities line up, and I think this is the case,” she said about the budget.
