Migrants started arriving at the newly opened Floyd Bennett Field shelter this weekend. However, some migrants immediately turned around and refused to stay at the city-run shelter, saying the location was too far from schools and transportation.

Last week, the city comptroller’s office released a report that found the city has failed to equitably distribute services around the city.

Written into the city charter is the “Fair Share” mandate, which dictates that not only do police and fire stations have to be spread evenly throughout the city.

But the report finds some neighborhoods have 100 times more shelter beds than others, and that three out of four neighborhoods without shelters are predominantly white.

City Comptroller Brad Lander joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
