Rochester Mayor Malik Evans announced Friday he is running for another term in office.
Evans is seeking a second term as the mayor of the Flower City after succeeding Lovely Warren in 2022.
Evans says if reelected, he will continue a "We Not Me" approach to governing.
He also says the city has come a long way since he took office, but says more work needs to be done.
Evans touted the progress in his first term, including a decrease in gun violence and homicides in Rochester, as well as investing more than $1 billion in affordable housing.
"I believe that by continuing our strategy of prevention, intervention, and suppression and accountability, I know that we will continue to see further reductions,” Evans said. “We must continue to send a message that violence and destruction must never ever be normalized."
Shashi Sinha, another Democrat, has also announced a bid to become mayor.
