School budget votes took place Tuesday across New York.
While voters decided on school budgets, there were also races for local boards of education. Bus propositions and capital improvement projects were also considered.
In the Rochester region, the Oakfield-Alabama Central School District budget failed 198-171 as it sought to override the property tax cap, which requires a 60% supermajority vote.
Caledonia-Mumford Central School failed to pass its budget after it put forward a $21.6 million budget that carried with it a 2.3% tax levy increase. It says it will create a revised budget.
The Gananda Central School District's budget of more than $28 million failed by a vote of 326-224.
By law, if a budget fails in Tuesday's vote — though a district isn't required to hold a re-vote — an altered budget has to be completed at least a week before the budget hearing, and a vote on a changed budget must take place June on 17 unless it would conflict with a religious observance.
