School budget votes begin on Tuesday across New York.

Most polls are open at 7 a.m. and many will stay open through 9 p.m.

While voters will be deciding on school budgets, there will also be races for local boards of education. Bus propositions and capital improvement projects will also be considered.

By law, if a budget fails in Tuesday's vote — though a district isn't required to hold a re-vote — an altered budget has to be completed at least a week before the budget hearing, and a vote on a changed budget must take place June on 17 unless it would conflict with a religious observance.

Check with your local district for specific polling hours and what will be on the ballot in your community. For updated results Tuesday night, as polls close, check spectrumlocalnews.com or the Spectrum News app.
