Tuesday was school budget vote day in New York state. According to Robert Schneider, executive director of the New York State School Boards Association, 99.2% of school district budgets passed, which was a slighter higher percentage than last year.
While NYSBBA doesn’t have complete totals yet, Schneider speculates that the turnout fell from last year because most voters in 2020 had utilized mail-in balloting due to the pandemic.
Schneider’s conversation with Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter also covered why many school districts will be spending funding on students’ mental health needs, post-COVID.
